Music Transfigured: Remembering Ferenc Fricsay
The story of the legendary Hungarian-born conductor. The film portrays Fricsay conducting rehearsals and concert performances of works by Kodaly, Smetana, Dukas and Mozart. Tamas Vasary, Kurt Masur, Yehudi Menuhin and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, all of whom worked closely with him, talk about the man and his artistry. Through a wide array of archival footage, we discover the marvellous technique of this passionate and elegant conductor and the imaginative language he used in order to bring music to life.
